Objective Builder

Objective builder provides a step-by-step process for the creation of measurable learning objectives in the cognitive, affective, or psychomotor domains.

Learning objectives are created in the CABD format, which stands for Condition, Audience, Behavior, and Degree.

The following theoretical frameworks are used:

  • Condition

    Given a blank map of the United States

  • Audience

    the student

  • Behavior

    will identify all 50 states and capitals

  • Degree

    with 90 percent accuracy

"Given a blank map of the United States the student will identify all 50 states and capitals with 90 percent accuracy."

Condition

Please state as specifically as possible what will be provided to the audience. Example: a thesis statement, the quadratic equation, a map.

Audience

Typically, the generic word "student" is used, however be specific if writing your objective for a narrow population.
